The Atlanta Beltline marks its 20th anniversary this year! What began as a grassroots idea has become one of the most transformative projects in Atlanta’s history.

Across two decades, the Beltline has connected neighborhoods, created new public spaces, supported small businesses, and turned underused land into vibrant community hubs. It’s changed the way we move through and experience our city—and the best part is, it’s still growing.  

20 Milestones for 20 Years 

🛣️ A Pathway That Connects Us All  

1. Trail Miles Completed: In 2026, nearly 18 miles of paved trail are set for completion, forming the backbone of 22-mile loop connecting 45 neighborhoods 

2. Dark Fiber Network: Almost 16 miles of dark fiber installed for stronger digital access for communities along the corridor  

3. Concrete Foundation: 12.8 miles of mainline trail poured, laying the groundwork for the future 

🏘️ HOUSING & DEVELOPMENT  

4. Housing Creation: 4,266 housing units built within the Beltline’s Tax Allocation District, supporting a mix of income levels 

5. Strategic Land Acquisition: 87 acres secured for future affordable housing and community-based development 

6. Sustainable Financing: $750M raised through the TAD to keep progress going strong  

7. Preventing Displacement: 270+ households enrolled in the Legacy Resident Retention Program, helping long-time residents stay in their homes 

📈 An Engine for Opportunity

8. $10 Billion Impact: The Beltline has helped generate nearly $10 billion in economic growth 

9. Entrepreneurship: 14 local small businesses thrive in affordable container storefronts via the Atlanta Beltline Marketplace 

10. Business Support: Over 50 businesses assisted through the Beltline’s Business Solutions office 

11. Start-Up Growth: 64 businesses successfully launched and scaled through the Beltline Ventures program 

12. Neighborhood Revitalization: 5 business districts enhanced through façade improvement projects 

13. Business Networking: Nearly 800 attendees have engaged in events connecting entrepreneurs to funding, resources, and customers 

🎨 Where Art Meets Everyday Life  

14. Arts Programming: With nearly 800 arts events and installations, the Beltline is Atlanta’s largest outdoor cultural destination 

15. A Beloved Tradition: 15 Lantern Parades have lit up the trail, drawing thousands in celebration of community and creativity

🏃 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND WELLNESS  

16. Inclusive Planning: Through dozens of quarterly briefings and hundreds of public meetings, the Beltline is shaped by community voices and public feedback  

17. Public Health: Approximately 80 free, accessible health and wellness programs offered across the corridor each month 

18. 30,000+ Runners in Beltline Races: Fitness meets fun with community runs and races that promote healthy living and neighborhood pride 

🤝 PARTNERSHIP & PUBLIC USE  

19. Philanthropic Support: Over $240 million raised by 4,442 individual donors—a testament to the extraordinary community investment driving the Beltline forward 

20. 2.5 Million Annual Visits: The Beltline is one of Atlanta’s most visited public spaces, a favorite for locals and tourists alike
