Election day was a non-event in Brookhaven, as incumbents Jen Owens (District 2) and John Funny (District 4), both without opponents, won their races on Nov. 4.
Owens garnered 1,672 votes, and Funny, 1,361 in unofficial results obtained from the Georgia Secretary of State website.
On election day, several people posted on social media about an effort to write in the name of Ronnie Mayer, a longtime Brookhaven resident, in the District 2 race. Some posts indicated, incorrectly, that Mayer had qualified for the race and that his name was left off the ballot.
However, Brookhaven Communications Director Burke Brennan confirmed with Rough Draft that Mayer had not filed paperwork, nor paid fees, during the qualifying window.
