Beginning Monday, March 2, MARTA will continue installing new fare collection equipment as a part of its Breeze system upgrade across the transit network.
Construction will take place in phases across the system to minimize disruption and maintain access to all rail stations, according to a press release from MARTA, with rail and bus service continuing as scheduled.
- Starting Monday, March 2 – Airport Station: All faregates closed for construction.
Use emergency doors facing outside to the West Curb (shuttle loop) and follow signs. Customers will need to enter and exit the Airport through terminal doors W-1 and W-2. The concourse remains open to buy a fare. Customers must pay fare to exit at the destination. - Starting Tuesday, March 3 – Buckhead Station: All faregates closed for construction.
Use emergency gates at both north and south entrances. Customers must pay fare to exit at destination. - Starting Wednesday, March 4 – Brookhaven Station: West faregates closed for construction.
Use bus loop faregates or emergency gates at the west faregates. Customers must pay the fare to exit at the destination. - Starting Thursday, March 5 – Lindbergh Station: Northeast faregates (across from MARTA headquarters) and southeast faregates closed for construction.
Use northwest faregates by bus loop or southwest faregates on Garson Drive. Please allow two extra minutes. - Starting Friday, March 6 – East Point Station: All faregates closed for construction.
Use emergency gates at north or south faregates. Customers must pay fare to exit at destination.
Both the current and new Breeze systems will be active during the transition period, March 28 to May 2, to give riders time to spend down remaining fare, purchase fare with the new system, and familiarize themselves with the “Better Breeze” system.
Customers are encouraged to spend down their stored fare by May 2. Remaining balances may be transferred from a current registered account to a new, registered Breeze account May 2 through Oct. 30.
All MARTA riders must transition to new fare media or use the open payment feature (tap bank card or use mobile wallet on smartphone) after May 2, according to the transit agency.
