AID Atlanta, an affiliate organization of AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), has been awarded a Housing Stability Grant from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta (CFGA).

The funds will be used by the organization in support of housing and utilities assistance, provided under its Member Emergency Assistance Fund, which provides urgent support to people living with HIV (PLWH) in the greater Atlanta area.

“As HIV care has evolved, housing instability has become one of the greatest barriers to maintaining treatment, especially post-pandemic and amid shrinking federal resources,” Nicole Roebuck, Executive Director of AID Atlanta, said in a statement.  “We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta for awarding AID Atlanta the Housing Stability Grant to support keeping our members in greater Atlanta stably housed.”

Serving the metro Atlanta community for over four decades, the investment from CFGA strengthens AID Atlanta’s ability to help individuals and families remain safely housed while prioritizing the removal of barriers to care for members living with HIV/AIDS. By addressing housing insecurity, AID Atlanta is better able to support consistent access to care, treatment adherence, and overall well-being.

According to recent statistics, Georgia has ranked among the states with the highest HIV diagnosis rates nationally; Fulton County (Atlanta) is among the highest in volume. The Atlanta metro area historically has had one of the highest new HIV diagnosis rates among U.S. metropolitan areas.  Housing is one of the biggest factors affecting health outcomes for people living with HIV, according to a press release from AID Atlanta.
