Artists and neighbors in downtown Tucker will celebrate the grand opening of Mama Debbie’s Art Emporium with a party and inaugural exhibition on March 7.

The new business from Tucker resident Angelica Bakhsh and Clayton Morey, housed in the former Treasures on the Railroad, will be a “community hub” for artists to collaborate, exhibit, and sell their work. The Art Emporium will feature a free coffee nook, two gallery spaces, and a retail floor with work from up to 30 local artists for sale.

“We want everything as local as possible. We really want to be a community hub. There’s not a town seat,” Bakhsh told Rough Draft in January. “There’s not a place to go have these kind of talks and things like we used to have.”

The community will celebrate the opening of the space on March 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. The event is touted as an “elegant” affair with music, celebration, and the Art Emporium’s first exhibit.

Artists who are interested in being featured in the exhibit still have time to apply; the deadline for submission was extended to March 4. All mediums are welcome and artists can submit their work to info@mdae.art.

Applications for sales floor vendors are also open. Vendor spaces start at $50 a month, but vendors under 21 do not have to pay for a booth.
