Lost and found
Wednesday, April 15 — It’s Cathy from Rough Draft with my weekly newsletter on Dunwoody. We are really stepping up our restaurant game with two big openings, which are detailed below.
There has also been plenty of Dunwoody drama with the passage of the Flock Safety camera contract in the city, and the results of a comprehensive investigation of three fired officers who claim that they were victims of racial discrimination – heavy stuff. Let’s lighten it with some upcoming events.
🍋 One of the city’s most beloved events, Lemonade Days, is fast approaching. Begun in 1999, the first Lemonade Days was held as a relief effort for those families affected by the 1998 tornado that tragically destroyed entire Dunwoody neighborhoods. It has since grown into a five-day festival that attracts more than 80,000 visitors.
👀 The Active Dunwoody Scavenger Hunt returns on April 23 for the fifth time, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Red Pepper Taqueria, allowing residents to explore the city, connect with neighbors, and embrace an active lifestyle. Participants walk or run throughout Dunwoody, solve clues and complete fun challenges in a lively, social atmosphere, with prizes donated by local businesses. Register for this free event on Eventbrite.
💡 Billed as a post-40s girls’ night out, the Dear FoundHer tour with Sunny and Jenn is popping into Dunwoody on April 16 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. Founder Lindsay Pinchuk joins influencers Pam “Sunny” Sunshine and Jenn Sherman on stage. VIP and general admission tickets are still available.
🏌🏽♀️🏌️♂️As Rory McIlroy proved last weekend at the Masters, it takes a Herculean effort to win back-to-back championships. The Dunwoody boys and girls golf teams did just that at the DeKalb County Championships.

Flock Safety contract approved, despite protests
📸 The Dunwoody City Council on April 13 approved a master services agreement with Flock Safety, while dozens of protesters heckled the panel with chants of “shame” after the vote.
The Dunwoody City Council at its February, March, and April meetings heard a myriad of concerns about Flock cameras installed around the city. After learning about data guardrails installed to ensure that Dunwoody’s data would not be shared or used as a demonstration site, the council unanimously renewed a series of contracts to continue using Flock within the department.
Speakers during public comment held before and after the April meeting hammered the council with demands for accountability as the council tried to put “guardrails” around the contract.

And speaking of Flock …
👮🏽 An independent investigation regarding the termination of three Dunwoody Police officers in late 2025 concluded that neither racial nor sexual discrimination played a part in the force’s decision to fire them.
The three officers – Ramatu Kamara, Jakori Edwards, and Jessica Preston – were terminated, or allowed to resign, after they were accused of several offenses, including conducting unauthorized database searches for a man who was allegedly dating one of the officers.
All three claimed in official grievance letters that they received harsher punishments because they are Black and cited incidents in which their white counterparts received less punitive punishments.
🔍 We did a deep dive into the investigation.

{S}table opens in former Steak & Grace location
🐎 Southern restaurant {S}table Comfort Food {n} Cocktails, backed by Dash Hospitality Group, opened April 9 at Dunwoody Village. The group runs a collection of restaurants at what Dash founder David Abes dubbed “Funwoody” Village, including Bar{n} Booze and Bites, Morty’s Meat Supply, and Message In a Bottle.
{S}table (pronounced “stable”) replaces Steak & Grace at Dunwoody Village, which closed in January after less than a year in business. Owner Barry Mills reached out to Abes weeks before the closure, asking if he would take over the Dunwoody Village steakhouse space and open another restaurant there. So far, I’m hearing rave reviews.
