Atlanta Beltline announced that it will once again be teaming up with local radio personality Big Tigger for the fourth annual “Big Tigger’s Beltline BikeFest” on May 2.
Taking place along the Beltline’s Southwest Trail, the free, family-friendly event will be hosting a day of exercise and fun, headlined by a community bike ride.
Leading the three- to five-mile ride is V-103 DJ Tigger, who will take participating riders and other celebrity guests on a cycling journey, starting and ending at mixed-use development Lee + White in Atlanta’s West End.
Following the bike excursion, participants can enjoy the rest of what the festival has to offer, including live music and DJ performances, food vendors, health screenings, children’s activities and bicycle safety lessons.
BikeFest was first conceived back in 2021, when Tigger, who had reconnected with cycling during the COVID-19 pandemic, approached Beltline organizers with the idea.
Since launching in 2023, the event has grown into a “celebration of culture, wellness and youth empowerment,” said Atlanta Beltline in a press release.
“BikeFest is more than just a bike ride or giveaway. It’s a celebration of community, culture and connection,” said Tigger. “Each year, it’s incredibly heartwarming to see the joy on kids’ faces as they ride their bikes. I’m honored to pour into the next generation, especially right before summer break when they need safe, healthy ways to stay engaged.”
As part of this year’s event, Tigger’s youth support nonprofit, the Big Tigger Foundation, will continue its tradition of donating hundreds of bikes and helmets to students from neighboring communities and schools in Atlanta.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to use alternative transportation options to get to the event.
Participation in the community bike ride is free, but registration is required.
