Dunwoody’s Spruill Gallery announces “Returns,” a group exhibition opening May 7 featuring muralist Charity Hamidullah, alongside emerging Atlanta artists Sayma Hossain and Masela Nkolo.

Returns is a Spruill Gallery tradition launched in 2025 that invites artists from the gallery’s public art program to bring their work indoors. Hamidullah’s mural Big Hug was featured on the gallery’s historic Smoke House from October 2023 to October 2024 as part of Spruill’s AMPLIFY public art initiative.

“Since her presentation of Big Hug, Charity continues to contribute to public art in Atlanta in meaningful and impactful ways,” said Gallery Director Shannon Morris, according to a release by the gallery. “I am also over the moon to be working with Sayma Hossain and Masela Nkolo, both of whom are among Atlanta’s top emerging contemporary artists.”

All three artists work with reclaimed materials drawn from their cultural heritage “to explore societal issues that transcend boundaries — creating work that is at once personal and universal,” the release said.

“Returns” is on view May 7 through June 19. The public is invited to an opening reception on May 8 from 6–9 p.m. and an artist talk on June 6 from 2–3 p.m.
