Two community events in downtown Norcross will bring temporary road closures near Thrasher Park this weekend, May 2-3.

The first-ever Norcross Porchfest kicks off Saturday at noon with several road closures in the heart of the historic downtown district. The Japanese Children’s Festival has a smaller impact, closing one section of Thrasher Street.

Downtown closures May 2-3

• Saturday, May 2 — Norcross Porchfest, noon to 6 p.m.

Multiple road closures will be in effect throughout the downtown area, including North Peachtree Street and Park Drive, Thrasher Street corridors from Park Drive to Holcomb Bridge Road to Autry Street, Wingo Street and Jones Street, and South Peachtree Street from Carlyle Street to Lively Avenue.

Park access parking spaces will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Porchfest will take place throughout downtown, with Thrasher Park serving as the main hub and performances at nearby homes.

• Sunday, May 3 — Japan’s Children’s Day Festival, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Thrasher Street will be closed from Park Drive to Buchanan Street. Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible.
