Renovations to the new Spruill Studios facility, housed in the former Chamblee City Hall building, are complete, and a public ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place June 13 at 10 a.m.

“This is an exciting time for Downtown Chamblee and the arts community,” said Chamblee Mayor Brian Mock, in a release from the arts organization. “We’re proud Spruill Center for the Arts partnered with the City of Chamblee to expand their services in our former City Hall for the creative community to thrive and showcase their talents.”

Sixteen artists, two of whom are Chamblee residents, have been selected through a competitive application process to occupy Spruill Studios. They include Reinilda Blair, Anna Brady, Yuan Butler, Spencer Clark, Manty Dey, Elisa Dore, Nicol Eltzroth Rosendorf, MaDora Frey, Allison Geckeler, Jermery Hall, Ross Landenberger, Claire Paul, Jay Reddish, Debanhi Romero, Shanon Schneider and Kristin Thorsen.

“The artists selected by our distinguished panel of artists and arts professionals are among Atlanta’s best emerging, mid-career, and established artists,” said Shannon Morris, Spruill Gallery director, in the release. “While their works are diverse, their energy is sweepingly exciting and contagious.”

Announced in March, Spruill Studios represents an effort by the Spruill Center for the Arts to provide affordable artist studio space in metro Atlanta. Spruill Studios will be accessible to the public via a dedicated gallery space as well as during select open studio events and tours.

“We’re proud not only to serve the arts community through this new endeavor, but also to offer opportunities for public engagement in the arts,” said Alan Mothner, Spruill CEO. “Spruill Studios has been two years in the making, and we’re excited to finally share it with the community.”
