Volunteer Sandy Springs is a collaboration between the civic roundtable, the city, and Georgia Tech public policy students. With research showing that a resource mapping website is a viable tool for community engagement, city and community leaders hope to support local nonprofits.

Sandy Springs legacy of community involvement

Volunteer Sandy Springs brings together 40 local nonprofits with residents, civic organizations, and corporate and community partners in one, easy-to-use central hub for service. The site is similar to Springboard.

Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul said the city was created on the foundation of community service. As the community has recovered from the pandemic, Paul and other city leaders have recognized a lack of civic involvement and made efforts to reenergize residents.

“People in Sandy Springs have told me they want to help, they just don’t always know where to start,” Paul said. “Volunteer Sandy Springs makes it simple by connecting people directly to organizations and causes that need support right now.”

The goal of Volunteer Sandy Springs is simple: remove barriers to volunteering and help more people get involved in strengthening the community.

The platform allows users to quickly find opportunities based on their interests and availability, including individuals, families, students, or corporate teams.  It also provides local nonprofits with a streamlined way to share their needs and connect with volunteers who are ready to serve.
