MARTA has launched a redesigned mobile app and web-based rider tools to provide riders with real-time transit information, trip planning assistance, and safety reporting.

The new digital platform, developed by civic technology firm Reflexions, is part of a broader effort by MARTA to modernize the customer experience and make the transit system easier to navigate for both daily commuters and visitors.

“MARTA is committed to improving the customer experience, whether it’s on our buses and trains, or when riders use our website or apps,” MARTA Interim General Manager and CEO Jonathan Hunt said in a statement announcing the launch.

The free mobile app is available for Apple and Android devices, while web-based rider tools can be accessed through MARTA’s website without requiring a download. The tools allow riders to plan trips, view real-time bus and train arrivals, receive service alerts and monitor system status from any internet-connected device.

Among the app’s new features is the integration of MARTA’s former “See & Say” safety reporting platform, enabling riders to report suspicious activity, safety concerns and other incidents directly through the main app. MARTA said reports will be routed to transit police and service teams.

The platform is powered by MARTA’s real-time transit data feeds and built on Open Trip Planner, an open-source trip-planning system used by transit agencies around the world. Officials said the technology provides more accurate arrival predictions and route-planning capabilities.

The agency also emphasized accessibility and language support. The app and web tools were designed to accommodate riders with visual, auditory and mobility-related disabilities and offer support in Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Korean, French and Arabic.

The launch marks the first phase of a broader digital transformation initiative. MARTA said a redesigned agency website is under development and future updates will integrate the new platform with the Breeze mobile payment app, allowing riders to manage trip planning and transit accounts through a single digital experience.
