The 57th running of the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race is on track to draw its largest field since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organizers with the Atlanta Track Club said the race has attracted runners from all 50 states and 30 countries across six continents, underscoring the event’s growing appeal as an international destination race. Registration remains open, with a maximum field size of 60,000 participants.
According to a press release, more than 10% of U.S.-based registrants are traveling from outside Georgia, while international runners are expected from countries including Australia, Japan, Kenya, and South Africa. Atlanta Track Club officials said the number of out-of-state and international participants is higher than in any previous year.
“This race has been a Fourth of July tradition for Atlanta for 57 years,” Atlanta Track Club CEO Rich Kenah said in a statement. “In 2026, it will also be a destination for the world.”
The race comes during a year of major milestones for Atlanta and the nation. The United States is celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2026, while Atlanta is also serving as a host city for matches during the FIFA World Cup. Organizers have adopted the theme “Peachtree Unites” for this year’s event.
According to registration data, participants range in age from 11 to 95, with a median age of 40. Men account for 51% of registrants and women 49%.
The largest age group is runners between 25 and 34 years old, representing nearly one-quarter of the field and marking a significant increase from last year. Participants ages 25 to 44 make up nearly 46% of all registered runners.
The race continues to attract both newcomers and longtime participants. Forty-four percent of registrants will be running the Peachtree for the first time, while 56% also competed in last year’s race, according to the press release.
Registration for the race is available at atlantatrackclub.org.
