The Olympic cauldron may leave Summerhill
📢 Summerhill is one of Atlanta’s most historically significant neighborhoods with a deep Jewish connection. It has been through a few major changes, including the 1950s and 1960s when I-20 was built and Jewish families began moving north. In the mid-90s, the City of Atlanta forced out Black residents in preparation for the 1996 Olympic Games. Summerhill would become the home to the Olympic cauldron and tower.
👎🏽 Georgia State University is now trying to move the relics, and Summerhill residents aren’t happy.

🌶️ Rough Draft’s new lifestyle and wellness reporter Laura Scholz spoke with Jewish OBGYN and mohel, Dr. Lillian Schapiro, about menopause.
“By the time you get to your early- and mid-40s, women often have kids, are caring for aging parents, and their careers are at their busiest,” explained Schapiro.
“So if you put your coffee down and don’t remember where you put it, is it because you have 18 things to do before you leave the house and are distracted by your cell phone, or is it because of the drop in hormone levels?”
Great question. Now, has anyone seen my phone?

This Jewish activist was arrested and deported for her book ‘Lesbian Love.’ 100 years later, will NYC apologize?
👮🏼 In 1926, New York City police arrested Eve Adams, a Polish-Jewish immigrant who ran a lesbian bar in Greenwich Village, for the crime of being gay.
The formal charges were more euphemistic. Officially, Adams was charged with disorderly conduct — that is, flirting with an undercover police officer who had entrapped her, and obscenity, for writing and possessing the book “Lesbian Love.”
The following year, the U.S. government deported Adams to Poland, and 16 years later, Adams would be murdered at Auschwitz.
Now, a century after Adam’s arrest, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal — the first openly gay person to hold the elected position — is urging New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to formally recognize the city’s role in Adams’ persecution.
