Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites are hosting Independence Day events across the state this year in commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary.
As part of the celebration, numerous parks and historic sites will give attendees the chance to take part in various activities that capture “the spirit of 1776,” including “immersive programming, traditional games and outdoor adventures,” according to a press release.
“This year’s Fourth of July is especially meaningful as we commemorate 250 years of American Independence,” said Angie Johnson, director of Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites. “Our parks and historic sites offer a unique opportunity to connect with the stories, landscapes and traditions that shaped our nation.”

Among the state parks and historic sites participating in the festivities include Jarrell Plantation, Fort Morris, Fort McAllister, Black Rock Mountain, Cloudland Canyon, Dahlonega Gold Museum, Don Carter, Florence Marina, New Echota, Hard Labor Creek and more.
Each location will offer its own unique activities for attendees to enjoy, with live music, black powder firing demonstrations, musket round-making, bike parades, family-friendly games, wagon rides and hikes being just some of the plans announced for the Fourth of July.
The full list of event details, times and reservation information can be found on the Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites website.
