Tucker residents will have a new opportunity for a career development this fall: Ogle School, the award-winning beauty and hair school, will welcome the inaugural class of its new Tucker location in September.
Ogle School is a private NACCAS-accredited post-secondary institution, equipping students with the skills to pursue careers in the beauty industry. Tucker is the 11th location for the Texas-based company and the second in Georgia, joining the Lee + White location in Atlanta.
The school offers students two different pathways – cosmetology and esthetics – on both part- and full-time schedules.
Students receive hands-on training in trade skills like hair cutting and coloring, skincare, and makeup application, but Ogle’s approach to education expands beyond just skills. Students also learn business management, social media marketing, and maintaining mental well-being as a service professional.
“We enroll hearts and we graduate dreams,” Kim Layton, the VP of Education and Campus Operations at Ogle, told Rough Draft. “This is not just about helping people get a license. We truly want people to be successful… We’re not just teaching beauty. We’re helping people change their lives.”
Layton said that Ogle will be a community-oriented addition to Tucker. Once the inaugural class reaches a certain skill level – about 18 weeks after the first day on September 8 – community members will be able to come into the salon for discounted haircuts and beauty services. Layton said the company also plans on working with DeKalb businesses to provide employees at a different business each month with free services.
The Tucker Ogle School campus will be located at 4013 Lavista Road. Registration is open for the fall semester now through September 2, with classes starting September 8. Interested students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a career planner to discuss scheduling and financial aid opportunities.
