🏅 At this morning’s Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race: 

  • Kenya’s Patrick Kiptoo Kiprop won in 27:37, beating his countryman Nicholas Kipkorir by four seconds.
  • Tsigie Gebreselama was the first woman in 31:02, edging fellow Ethiopian Melknat Wudu by one second.
  • Americans Daniel Romanchuk and Tatyana McFadden won the men’s and women’s wheelchair races, respectively.

🔎 The FBI is reassigning hundreds of analysts to assist in the investigation of Fulton County’s 2020 election records.

⚕️ A new state law that went into effect last week should make access to medical cannabis easier to prescribe and obtain. 

FIFA WORLD CUP

⚽ Cape Verde’s Cinderella story came to an end, but not before giving defending champion Argentina a scare, forcing extra time, where Lionel Messi & Co. won 3-2. Colombia and Egypt also advanced.

🗓️ The round of 16 starts today, with Canada v Morocco in Houston at 1 p.m. and Paraguay v France in Philadelphia at 5 p.m. (FOX). 

⛈️ FIFA said it’s keeping tomorrow’s Mexico-England match at 8 p.m., rejecting the Mexican government’s request for an earlier start time over weather concerns.

WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND

🇺🇸 The Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade starts today at 9 a.m. at Mt. Vernon and Jett Ferry, with a festival to follow in Dunwoody Village.

⚾ The Atlanta Braves take on the New York Mets this weekend, with a game tonight at 7:15 p.m. and tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.

🏀 The Atlanta Dream will play the Golden State Valkyries today at Gateway Center Arena at 1 p.m.

🎻 “Basura,” a new musical with music and lyrics by Gloria and Emily Estefan, is at the Alliance Theatre. There are two performances tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
