Atlanta Angels is bringing connection, confidence, and creativity to youth in foster care through a special cooking experience led by local educator and influencer Courtney Cook on Aug. 2.
According to a release from the agency, youth served through Atlanta Angels’ Dare to Dream mentoring program will gather at Team Building with Taste for an evening focused on building kitchen skills, exploring creativity, and creating meaningful connections through food.
Cook, a passionate teacher and community advocate, will share cooking tips and tricks while encouraging youth to step into the kitchen with confidence, according to the release. The hands-on experience will allow participants to learn new skills, express themselves creatively, and enjoy a supportive environment where they feel celebrated.
After learning more about Atlanta Angels’ mission to walk alongside children, youth, and families impacted by foster care, Cook was moved by the organization’s relationship-based approach and wanted to use her platform to create an experience centered on belonging and empowerment.
Atlanta Angels supports children, youth, and foster families across Metro Atlanta through programs like Dare to Dream, a mentoring program for youth ages 11–22, and Love Box®, a monthly support program for foster caregivers.
“Community members like Courtney remind our youth that they are surrounded by people who believe in them,” said Christie Simons, Executive Director of Atlanta Angels, according to the release. “These experiences create moments of belonging that can have a lasting impact.”
