A minor traffic accident at the Drift Apartments in Dunwoody on Aug. 4 around 7 a.m. turned into a fist fight and a shooting that inflicted minor injuries on one of the suspects.
According to a release from the Dunwoody Police, officers were dispatched to 4000 Dunwoody Park, after reports were made regarding an armed person.
Upon arrival, officers determined the incident stemmed from a minor private-property vehicle crash in the parking deck. A female drove one vehicle, and the other was occupied by Jalen Wade.
After the collision, the two people involved in the crash began arguing, the release said.
“Jalen’s brother, Andrew Wade-Bell, heard the argument and came to the scene,” the release said. “The female driver contacted her boyfriend, later identified as Leonardo Dismukes, who arrived on scene and joined the argument with Andrew and Jalen. The verbal dispute escalated into a physical fight.”
During the fight, a firearm, which police identified as a handgun, fell from Dismukes’ pants. His girlfriend picked up the gun after it fell, and after the fight ended, Dismukes took the gun back from her and fired five shots at Jalen Wade as he ran away, striking him in the foot.
Dismukes was detained, interviewed, and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
The brothers were charged with simple assault for their roles in the fight before the shooting. Andrew was transported to the DeKalb County Jail. Jalen was transported to North Fulton Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injury.
After receiving medical attention, Wade was to be transported to DeKalb County Jail, according to police officials.
As of Aug. 5, the jail has no record of the whereabouts of the three suspects, who may have already posted bond.
