Inspired by their experiences working together in corporate veterinary medicine, Dr. Kelly Rosenhauer and Kelsea Dowsley have opened a new practice in Tucker that emphasizes a comprehensive approach to care for both animals and the employees who serve them.
According to the CDC, veterinarians are twice as likely than the general public on average to die by suicide. At Magnolia Veterinary Care, this is a statistic Dr. Rosenhauer and Dowsley hope to combat. The co-owners encourage employees to be passionate about veterinary care by cultivating a slower, more well-rounded approach to care.
Vets at Magnolia aren’t rushed into seeing and diagnosing a pet within a 20-minute appointment; they practice what they call “relational medicine” to discourage burnout while still providing high-quality care.
“[Employees] have time to sit down and get to know the clients, to take care of the patients and take their time with them,” Dr. Rosenhauer told Rough Draft. “…I have pretty high standards and want to make sure that we’re practicing really high quality, up-to-date medicine with all the tools and the tricks, but also blending what is so fun about vet med, which is that each patient is so different and each owner has different needs.”

This emphasis on building relationships is paired with transparent and affordable prices to make high-quality pet care accessible to Magnolia’s clientele. While the practice isn’t a low-cost clinic, diagnostic and preventative care are kept at a reasonable price so parents can afford the maintenance of a happy and healthy pet.
Magnolia opened in Tucker on June 15, and after only a month and a half, Dr. Rosenhauer and Dowsley say they have received an overwhelming amount of support from the community.
“We’ve gotten great feedback from the community already, and we’re so grateful for how many people have come,” Dr. Rosenhauer said. “… It’s so cool to see how Tucker gets behind small businesses and really supports people.”
Magnolia Veterinary Care, located at 3631 Chamblee Tucker Road, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closes for lunch. The practice treats cats and dogs, and prospective patients can request an appointment through the business’ website.
