Rough Draft Atlanta is partnering with Community Farmers Markets to let you know what’s in season at your local market. Each week, we’ll share a list of ingredients that are farm fresh, along with a couple of recipes that include those products.
Here’s what you’ll find in the way of produce at the farmers market this week: Apples, peaches, figs, corn, beans, tomatoes, blueberries, muscadine grapes, onions, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, melons, eggplants, peppers (sweet peppers, poblano, shishito), raspberries, arugula, beets, bok choy, lettuce/mixed greens, microgreens, green onions, gourmet mushrooms (oyster, lion’s mane, shiitake), herbs (chives, green onions, cilantro, basil, tulsi), carrots, and sweet potato greens.
Look for these specialty items: Foraged foods, pecans, smoked salmon and trout, flowers, plant starts, pastured pork, wild caught shrimp, eggs, goat + sheep cheese, milk, jam, chocolate, honey, oils, tea blends, cold pressed juices, hot sauce, vinegars, nut butters, spice blends, ghee, pickles, pasta, tortillas, apple cider, and bone broth.
Atlanta non-profit Community Farmers Markets (CFM) has been building community through farmers markets since 2011. Operating weekly outdoor farmers markets as well as rotating farm stands are strategies by which the organization addresses food access in Atlanta. CFM also offers educational programming in the community, financial incentives to make local food more affordable, and professional development for small businesses.
See y’all at the farmers market!

Cast Iron Peaches and Apples Breakfast Skillet Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 apples, diced
- 2–3 peaches, diced
- Vegan butter
- Cinnamon
- Brown sugar
- Maple syrup
- Juice of ½ lemon (optional)
Directions:
- Place a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the vegan butter and allow it to melt and cook until it is just beginning to brown.
- Add the diced apples to the skillet. Cook for approximately 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Apples are firmer than peaches and need a head start so both fruits finish with the right texture.
- Add the diced peaches and gently combine with the apples. If using fresh lemon juice, squeeze it over the fruit at this stage.
- Sprinkle in the cinnamon and brown sugar. Stir until the fruit is evenly coated, then continue cooking for approximately 3 minutes, allowing the fruit to soften and the sugar to begin caramelizing.
- Drizzle the maple syrup over the fruit and gently stir to coat. Cook briefly until the syrup is warm and the fruit is glossy and caramelized.
- Remove from heat and enjoy immediately.

Apple Sorbet with Figs Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Bag of apples
- Pint of figs
- 1.5 ounces of Spice is Nice vinegar from Cherokee Moon Mixology
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Water
- Butter
- Sliced almonds
Directions:
- Peel and cube the apples and throw them in a pot with a lid along with everything except the figs and water.
- Cook that on medium-medium low heat until the apples are soft. Transfer to a bowl and allow to cool.
- Once everything is cooled down to room temp put your apple mix in a blender. Adjust flavoring before adding water.
- Add water as needed to get desired flavor, then put in your freezer. Stir occasionally so it doesn’t turn into an ice block over night. If that does happen just thaw it on the counter and fluff it with a fork.
- Cut some figs in half and sauté in a pan with butter over medium heat until they get a little browned.
- To serve, put the sorbet in a bowl with the figs and sprinkle some almond slices.
