Stand for Peace, an intergenerational storytelling festival, will return to Decatur on Sept. 12.
Last year’s inaugural event brought together community members of all ages to share their stories and hear stories from Atlanta’s diverse communities. Organizations in attendance included Afghan-American Alliance of Georgia, Georgia Equality, and Trans Joy, which will all be returning this year.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Sept.12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the front lawn of the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Attendees can expect community storytelling from neighbors and leaders across Atlanta’s immigrant, advocacy, faith, and community care networks, plus live music, an art show, food vendors, snow cones, bubbles, and games.
Organizations in attendance will include PORCH Decatur, Global Growers Network, A Home for Everyone in DeKalb, Decatur Education Foundation, Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network, Black Voters Matter Fund, We Are CASA, Asian American Advocacy Fund, Doctors for Global Health, Coalition of Refugee Service Agencies, and Presencia.
Stand for Peace is hosted by STAND, an organization built on the belief that in the face of overwhelming global conflict and turmoil, we have to turn to our neighbors and communities. The organization has three goals: support those harmed by destructive policy, share information and resources removed from federal agencies, and protest.
