A mosquito trap in Chastain Park has tested positive for West Nile Virus, according to the Chastain Park Conservancy.

The Conservancy said the location is a repeat positive site, meaning positive mosquito pools have previously been identified in the area.

The City of Atlanta’s mosquito control vendor, Vector Disease Control International, will treat the affected area tonight and tomorrow, weather permitting.

Treatment will cover an area within a quarter-mile radius of the mosquito trap that tested positive.

After the treatment, the area will be retested. Signs will also be placed in the affected area to alert park visitors about the positive mosquito findings and spraying activities.

The Chastain Park Conservancy is encouraging visitors to take normal precautions to help prevent mosquito bites while enjoying the park.
