From inclusive celebrations and arts festivals to Oktoberfest traditions and Halloween fun, residents and visitors can enjoy a full calendar of free and family-friendly events throughout September and October.
As students are settling back into the school year and cooler temperatures begin to arrive, the city is gearing up for another season of fall events.
September in Sandy Springs
The season begins with Fall Fun for All on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Morgan Falls Overlook Park Pavilion. The city’s annual event is designed to provide an inclusive experience for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. Activities include carnival games, prizes, entertainment, and a few surprises.
Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
On Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26, the Blue Stone Arts & Music Festival will transform four city blocks in the heart of City Springs. The festival features live music, local and regional artists, interactive activities, food vendors, and entertainment for the entire family.
This is the city’s fourth year hosting its free downtown fair, featuring live music from nationally acclaimed acts, a market with more than 60 artists, and an area for kids’ activities. Allen Stone and the Nicotine Dolls are headlining on Friday and Saturday nights.
Events in October
The seventh annual Sandy Springs Paws and Pastries, from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 17, is a festive afternoon designed for dogs and their humans at Morgan Falls Overlook park. Guests can enjoy complimentary dog treats, pastries, prizes, tennis balls, and water while pups socialize in the park’s separate fenced areas for small and large dogs. The event also features an optional Dog Costume Contest.
Attendees are encouraged to register in advance and bring their own dog bowl and water.
Also on Oct. 17, the city welcomes the return of OktoberFEAST at City Springs, a recurring city celebration blending authentic Bavarian traditions with Southern hospitality. Guests can enjoy live entertainment, including performances by fan-favorite The Swinging Bavarians, a variety of family-friendly activities, and an expanded selection of German-inspired food and beverages.
Admission is free to this year’s “OktoberFEAST,” Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-18, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
Spooky Springs wraps up fall’s slate of community gatherings on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 5–7 p.m. at Abernathy Greenway Playable Art Park. Perfect for young trick-or-treaters and their families, the event features candy stations, face painting, music, food trucks, festive decorations, and Halloween-themed activities in a safe and welcoming environment.
