Chops Lobster Bar will open in Johns Creek in 2028. 

Buckhead Life Restaurant Group announced this week that Chops will open at a hotel planned for the Medley development in Johns Creek. This marks the first suburban location for the iconic Atlanta steakhouse. Another location will open at Centennial Yards in downtown Atlanta next year.  

Chops will take over a ground-floor space at the Medley hotel, a 150-room Marriott Tribute hotel at the 43-acre mixed-use development at Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road.

Chops in Johns Creek

Expect a similar design to that of the original location in Buckhead and a menu featuring prime-aged cuts of beef, whole steamed and cracked lobsters from Nova Scotia, and the popular Chops martini. Chops will also run the lobby bar at the hotel.

Mark Toro of Toro Development Company called Chops “the ultimate crescendo to Medley’s exceptional food and beverage lineup.” While at North American Properties, Toro helped lead the development of Avalon in Alpharetta, another mixed-use complex built around retail and restaurants, housing, walkability, and community gathering spaces. 

Chops will join other restaurants slated for Medley, including Rena’s Italian Fishery & Grill, Fogón and Lions, CRÚ Food & Wine Bar, Fadó Irish Pub, Five Daughters Bakery, Summit Coffee, and Shake Shack. On the retail side, Sephora, Warby Parker, and High Country Outfitters have signed on, and Trader Joe’s is already open.

While the hotel and Chops will open in 2028, a grand opening for Medley and its current roster of tenants will take place on Oct. 29.

Once completed, Medley will include more than 800 townhomes and apartments, a hotel, multiple office spaces, and a large outdoor events plaza with murals from Atlanta artist Greg Mike.

Chops first opened in 1989 on West Paces Ferry in Buckhead, next to what is now the St. Regis Atlanta. Since that time, Buckhead Life has expanded its restaurant footprint in Atlanta to include Atlanta Fish Market, Bistro Niko, Corner Café, Kyma, and Pricci. The group opened a location of Chops in Boca Raton, Florida, in 2007.
