Georgia Tech opened its new student residence hall at the start of the fall semester.
The Bud & Val Peterson Residence Hall, located at 920 Curran St., is an eight-story, 191,000-square-foot building and Tech’s first new traditional residence hall in 60 years.
The building has 862 beds for first-year students, Tech’s first 24-hour automated dining market, and dedicated study, wellness, fitness, and e-sports spaces;
Tech is also celebrating the reopening of Brittain Dining Hall after a two-year renovation of the circa-1928 building. The dining hall’s kitchen, service areas, and systems have all been modernized, according to officials.
Students are also enjoying the new menu fare at the hall:
- Smoothie Lab — A smoothie and acai bowl station.
- Green Bytes and Slices — An expanded salad bar (relocated from the dining room to the servery), a made-to-order deli, and soup.
- Smart Slice — A pizza station.
- GT Fire Bowl — A new Mongolian concept.
- Ramblin’ Grill – A full grill station.
- Plant-Power Hive — A vegetarian and vegan station.
- A full beverage station – A station featuring soda, water, coffee and other drinks.
- Soft-serve ice cream and a Dole Whip machine.
