Arts DeKalb celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a free Latin Jazz Concert featuring the C.O.T Band on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive in Decatur.
According to a release from the county, the celebration will “bring sound and spirit of Latin Jazz to life with bold rhythms, lively instrumentation, and an energetic performance designed to get audiences moving.”
“From the first note to the final beat, the C.O.T. Band will deliver an exciting musical experience that honors the vibrant traditions and cultural contributions celebrated during Hispanic Heritage Month,” the release said.
Before the music begins, guest are invited to experience “Throbbing Life,” an exhibition by Mexican artist Miguel Millo, featuring vivid color, expressive movement and powerful emotion.
“The event brings music, art and community together in an inspiring way,” said Stephanie Raines, culture affairs director. “It’s an opportunity for residents to enjoy an exciting performance, inspiring artwork, and celebrate the richness of Hispanic heritage together.”
