Jon West, the Atlanta Food Bank’s vice president of partner relations, has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective Nov. 2.
West assumes the role as current leader Kyle Waide transitions to his new position as President and CEO of Downtown Atlanta Inc. Waide will stay on in an advisory role through Nov. 12 to support the transition, according to a statement from ACFB.
ACFB Board of Directors Chair Althea Broughton said in a statement that West is “the right person to lead the Food Bank at this moment.”
“He knows the organization inside and out, from his first role painting food drive barrels 17 years ago to his current role as Vice President of Partner Relations, where he leads the team supporting our network of 700 community-based, nonprofit partners that put food within reach of neighbors across the 29 counties we serve,” Broughton said. “He has a strong track record of building new initiatives, guiding long-range planning, turning research into strategy, and aligning diverse stakeholders around complex community needs.”
West will lead day-to-day operations, support the staff, board, and leadership team, steward key community relationships, and keep the organization’s strategic priorities moving forward.
The ACFB Board is selecting a search firm to help find the nonprofit’s next long-term leader.
“We are deeply grateful to Kyle Waide for his leadership and service to the Food Bank, and we have full confidence in Jon and the leadership team as the organization begins this next chapter,” Broughton said.
