Tucker’s annual Rivers Alive event will return to the city this Saturday, Oct. 10.
Rivers Alive is Georgia’s volunteer waterway cleanup program aiming to keep all watersheds within state lines free of trash. The program’s mission is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia’s water resources.
The Tucker Civic Association signed on with the Rivers Alive program in 2008, and every year since, TCA has hosted more than 100 volunteers to clean up the South Fork Peachtree Creek. To date, Rivers Alive volunteers have removed more than 130,000 pounds of trash from the creek.

Saturday’s event invites volunteers to clean up the creek, located at 4315 Cowan Road, from 9 a.m. to noon. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as gloves, collection bags, pickers, and a commemorative t-shirt.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear boots and long pants and bring wheelbarrows, shovels, and clippers if possible. Registration can be completed via Eventbrite.
