Due to the severe weather expected from Hurricane Isaias on Saturday, Atlanta Pride canceled the first day of the two-day festival.

In a press release, the organization announced that all programming on Saturday, Oct. 10, would be canceled due to anticipated hazardous conditions.

As of Friday, Oct. 9, the Pride parade remains scheduled for noon on Sunday, Oct. 11. The festival at Piedmont Park is also expected to commence on Sunday, weather and safety conditions permitting. Saturday-only premium passes will be honored on Sunday.

Gov. Brian Kemp issued a state of emergency for all of Georgia’s 159 counties in preparation of Hurricane Isaias. As of 9:10 a.m. on Oct. 9, Isaias had reached Category 3 storm status with sustained winds of 120 mph.

Georgia Power said in a press release that it is preparing to respond to potential power outages over the weekend.

Atlanta Pride is one of several events across Metro Atlanta that has been canceled due to the storm, including Georgia-Alabama watch parties in Chamblee and Tucker, the Atlanta Turkish Food Festival, Fall Festival on Ponce, the Mayor’s 5K on the 5th Runway at the Atlanta airport, the Cryptid Creatives Halloween Market in East Atlanta Village, and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Atlantic Station.
