The DeKalb County School District saw an increase in student participation and performance on the College Board’s Advanced Placement exams in the 2025–2026 school year.

The overall number of AP exams taken by DCSD students increased by about five percent compared to the 2024–2025 school year, according to a release from the school district.

The total number of AP exam scores earning a 3 or higher, a benchmark commonly recognized as a passing score, increased by 12%. The total percentage of exams taken scoring a 3 or higher also increased by four percent year over year.

Individual high schools also saw improvement in scores. Fifteen DCSD high schools
increased the number of AP exams taken compared to the previous school year, while 17 high schools increased their percentage of AP exam scores earning a 3 or higher.

“We are encouraged by the growth in both AP exam participation and performance across our district,” Superintendent Dr. Norman C. Sauce III said in the press release. “As we continue to expand access to challenging coursework and strengthen academic support, we remain focused on ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential and be prepared for college, careers, and life.”
