Horizon Theatre Company’s world premiere of “Other Paths to God,” a hospital dramedy by Atlanta playwright Kelundra Smith, continues through Nov. 8 at the theater’s home in Little Five Points.
Directed by Alexis Kulani Woodard, the production follows five intensive care unit nurses at Morey Medical Center whose lives unravel when $3 million goes missing. As suspicion falls on the nurses, workplace tensions, relationship troubles and personal secrets fuel a hospital whodunit inspired by interviews Smith conducted with Atlanta nurses.
The ensemble includes Tonia M. Jackson as charge nurse Renée, Amer-Marie Woods as Colleen, Trevor Rayshay Perry as Rel, Kenedi Deal as Kai, and Arizsia Staton as Amy.

Smith said the play explores how people, particularly Black women, can tie their self-worth to their labor and struggle to recognize the importance of rest and reconsideration.
Commissioned by Horizon in 2021 through its New Georgia Woman Project: Black Women Speak, the play grew out of conversations with Black women across Georgia about work, religion, relationships and other aspects of their lives.
The production is also part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere, with subsequent performances planned in Chicago in November and Sacramento in 2028.
Performances run Wednesday through Sunday, with select matinees. Tickets start at $40 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and $45 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, plus taxes and fees. Student tickets are available for $20.
Horizon Theatre is located at 1083 Austin Ave. NE in Atlanta. For tickets and performance details, visit horizontheatre.com or call (404) 584-7450.
