Cabbagetown will turn up the heat on Saturday, Nov. 7, with the return of Chomp & Stomp, an annual fall festival featuring a chili cook-off, live music, a 5K race, and an artist market.

The 23rd annual event will take place throughout the neighborhood, with festivities centered around Cabbagetown Park. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free, but visitors who want to sample chili must purchase an official tasting spoon.

More than 100 chili recipes, prepared by amateur cooks and local restaurants, will compete for bragging rights. Tasting begins at 12:30 p.m. Spoons can be purchased at the festival or in advance at participating neighborhood businesses, including Little’s Food Store and Sweet Cheats.

Music is another major attraction, with more than 30 bands and performers scheduled across five stages. See the lineup in the Instagram post below.

An artist market featuring local vendors, along with food and beverage options, will offer additional opportunities for visitors to explore the neighborhood.

The day begins earlier with the Romp & Stomp 5K, scheduled for 8 a.m. The race and fun run take participants through the streets of Cabbagetown.

Proceeds support local parks, green spaces, the Cabbagetown Community Center and other public spaces.
