Sandy Springs Education Force is partnering with Marietta-based Novus Solutions to host an electronics recycling drive on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in North Springs High School’s parking lot.
The nonprofit says its annual fundraiser requires a minimum of $25 per vehicle and accepts a variety of electronics. Working and non-working items are accepted. All data will be wiped clean, and nothing will go to a landfill, according to the SSEF’s announcement.
Sandy Springs-based Cox Enterprises is sponsoring the fundraiser, which looks to raise money for the nonprofit’s supplemental STEAM, literacy, after-school, and mentoring programs for students in public schools. All money raised goes toward local students, and donations are tax-deductible.
The SSEF’s announcement says it will pay extra money per pound to recycle CRT TVs and LCD TVs/monitors. Nonprofit organizers encourage community members to donate more to help cover the fees and the cost of running the event.
Participants can pay the nonprofit’s fee on-site or donate online and bring the receipt to the collection site.

Other SSEF opportunities
Registration is open for the annual Sandy Springs Education Force’s Lightning 5K/10K on Saturday, Oct. 24. The race is a fast, flat course and an official Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
Participants can register individually or with fundraising teams to help raise money for the nonprofit’s 18 educational programs. All runners get a race T-shirt, finishers receive custom-designed medals, and the top three adults and kids in multiple categories earn awards.
“Many students are still facing vast educational gaps, especially children whose families have limited financial means,” the nonprofit’s announcement said. “To help bridge this gap, we are continuing to expand our programs to provide targeted learning support and outreach programs that will make a difference for these public school students.”
The education-focused nonprofit has several volunteer opportunities, including Reading Buddies with local elementary schoolers and high school senior mentoring.
