As the longest-running home tour in Atlanta, the Historic Druid Hills Home & Garden Tour has showcased many stunning homes over the years. Brought to you by the Druid Hills Civic Association and organized by an army of volunteers, it is the one Atlanta home tour you don’t want to miss!
After missing two seasons due to the pandemic, our Tour returned in 2022…and what a wonderful return we had. With the most perfect weather and record-breaking turnout, we couldn’t have asked for better. We featured twelve immaculate homes, some historic and some meant to look historic, all situated on streets on Frederick Law Olmsted’s original plan for Druid Hills. Many tour-goers meandered through our neighborhood’s amazing Olmsted Linear Park as they walked the tour – Olmsted himself would have been thrilled to see it!
Druid Hills Commemorates Olmsted’s 200th Birthday
Our annual Home & Garden Tour returns this year as part of a larger coordinated national celebration: Olmsted 200!
April 26, 2022 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted, founder of American landscape architecture. His legacy lives on in iconic spaces around the U.S. such as New York’s Central Park, Boston’s Emerald Necklace, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville and many more, including Atlanta’s Druid Hills featuring Olmsted Linear Park, which runs through the heart of the neighborhood along Ponce de Leon Avenue.
A tour for the books
As the longest running home tour in Atlanta, the Druid Hills Home & Garden Tour has showcased many stunning homes over the years. It draws thousands of attendees from all over the Southeast.
This year’s promises to be better than ever starting with 822 Lullwater Rd, a gorgeous brick and limestone Tudor featured in the Academy Award winning film “Driving Miss Daisy.” Then from a show-stopping French Manor Revival designed by Neel Reid, built in 1916 for the heir to the Rich’s Department store fortune, to a miraculous renovation/resurrection of a magnificent two story Classical Revival that sat abandoned for a number of years and has recently been lovingly restored to its former glory by its current owners – every home on our tour has a story.
Olmsted 200 — both local and national
Did you know … Olmsted Linear Park and Historic Druid Hills were Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr.’s last designs before he died? April 26, 2022 will be this remarkable landscape visionary’s 200th birthday so special events will be happening all over the country to mark his bicentennial.
The Atlanta Olmsted 200 Committee, which includes representatives from each of the following organizations, has been hard at work planning some fantastic events to help us celebrate!
