Sada Jacobson, the Olympic fencer from the panhandle section of Sandy Springs, brought home two medals home from Beijing.
Jacobson, 25, was part of an American sweep in the women’s individual saber competition Aug. 9. She claimed the silver, losing the championship match to teammate and defending champion Mariel Zagunis 15-8.
Jacobson, Zagunis and individual bronze medalist Becca Ward combined to take the bronze in the team saber competition five days later. The trio lost to eventual champion Ukraine 45-39 in the semifinals, then bounced back to beat France 45-38.
Jacobson has said she plans to retire from Olympic competition after the games in Beijing.
She would leave fencing with three Olympic medals, having also won the bronze in the individual saber at the Athens Olympics four years ago.
