A family fun day will be held May 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 6332 Roswell Road in the shopping center with the Hancock Fabric near the intersection of Sandy Springs Circle.

The event will raise money for the police department’s Benevolent Fund, a new nonprofit organization the city approved in April.

The Benevolent Fund collects money for people and families affiliated with the Sandy Springs Police Department who are experiencing difficult times.

People eligible are full-time or part-time employees, reserve officers and volunteers who give at least four hours a month.

The city of Sandy Springs will not provide any money for the fund. Police will seek donations.

Dist. 2 Councilwoman Dianne Fries in April offered a $1,500 donation from the proceeds of the May 2 Sandy Springs Cycling Challenge.
