Vandalism investigated
Sandy Springs police are investigating the vandalism of several vehicles and mailboxes in the area of Dalrymple Road and Brandon Mill Road in northern Sandy Springs in the early morning hours of April 24. Several cars were spray-painted with obscenities and derogatory phrases. Two mailboxes were spray-painted with swastikas. Investigators are working with school resource officers and faculty from Spalding Drive Charter Elementary School to gain information as to the person or people responsible.

Robbery
500 block of Northridge Road 30350 – A woman reported April 23 that two men jumped her and snatched her purse, which held cash, food stamps, a credit card and a check. She was struck in the shoulder during the purse snatching.
5300 block of Roswell Road 30342 – Just after 1 a.m. April 26 a gunman with a stocking over his head entered Waffle House and robbed the employees of the money in the register.
6100 block of Powers Ferry Road 30327 – A short man with a pot belly robbed Georgia Banking Co. just after 3 p.m. April 27. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Burglary
Marsh Glen Court 30350 – A man reported a burglary at his apartment April 23. The officer asked whether the man knew why anyone would break in, ransack the place, but not steal anything. The man said he didn’t.
600 block of Cimarron Parkway 30350 – Two TV sets and a laptop computer were reported missing April 23. No forced entry to the apartment was found.
200 block of Dalrymple Road 30350 – Someone broke into a home April 24 and stole truck keys and a truck. The victim thinks that the culprit may be someone who is staying in the wooded area behind the home.
6000 block of Long Acres Drive 30328 – Several electronics, including laptops and game systems, were taken from a home April 24.
Kayron Drive 30328 – A home’s front door was kicked in April 25, and someone gained entry. A lawn mower and a weed trimmer were among the items taken.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – Several items were taken from an apartment April 25. No forced entry was found.
300 block of Glen Lake Drive 30328 – A man reported someone stole three shotguns April 25.
Glenmanor Court 30328 – Someone forced entry to a home and took a 50-inch television April 26.
8100 block of Colquitt Road 30350 – Someone scaled the second-floor balcony of an apartment April 26 and stole a bicycle valued at $800.
Marsh Trail Circle 30350 – The front door to an apartment was pried open April 27. The apartment was ransacked, but nothing was listed as stolen. Four other burglaries occurred in the area around the same time.
700 block of Cimarron Parkway 30350 – Someone kicked in the front door to an apartment April 27 and took a 61-inch television.
1000 block of Brentwood Way 30350 – Someone kicked in the front door to an apartment April 29 and took a laptop computer.
Theft
Concourse Parkway 30328 – A woman reported that she was playing tennis at the Concourse Athletic Club. She placed her watch in her bag at courtside. After the match, the $1,500 watch was gone.
6600 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A business reported that someone took $400 from a deposit bag before the money could be deposited April 26.
500 block of Greenland Drive 30328 – Tools were stolen April 26.
Green Pine Drive 30328 – A resident reported April 27 that mail was stolen from the mailbox while she was out of town. (Don’t stop the delivery of mail at the post office; instead, have a family member or trusted friend or neighbor pick it up for you.)
6000 block of Lake Forrest Drive 30328 – A trailer was stolen April 24.
5100 block of Roswell Road 30342 – Two rings were stolen from a business April 26.
200 block of Sandy Springs Place 30328 – While shopping April 26, a woman reported that when she went to pay for her groceries, she discovered that her wallet was gone from inside her purse. Credit cards and $200 cash were in the wallet. (Close your purse. Zip it up.)
6600 block of Peachtree-Dunwoody Road 30328 – Employees of the Art Institute of Atlanta reported the theft of a wallet from an office April 26.
Wedgewood Way 30350 – A man called and said he and his girlfriend broke up. She came over so they could exchange things. She had been drinking, so he let her stay at his apartment overnight. He left so they wouldn’t argue anymore that night. About 11 p.m. he got a text from her that she was leaving. When he got home, he found that she had taken the dog with her.
200 block of Sandy Springs Place 30328 – Security guards stopped, and police later arrested, a woman for stealing more than $200 in makeup and chicken April 26.

Fraud, forgery and ID theft
Zephyr Court 30328 – A resident was called April 23 by a person who, the victim said, had her personal account and financial information regarding an existing account. The person wanted additional financial information to “get a better rate” on an account. The victim gave the caller credit card info on two cards. The caller said he was going to charge $800 to a card. The victim questioned the charge. The caller became verbally abusive and said he would charge both cards the $800 “fee.” She canceled both cards, and so far no fraudulent activity has appeared on either card.
Hunters Branch Drive 30328 – Someone used the victim’s identity to open credit card accounts April 25.
Assault
Northwood Drive 30342 – Officers went to an apartment and met with a woman who said her husband hit her on the side of the head with a beer bottle. She had visible injuries from the assault. The husband fled the apartment before police arrived.
8100 block of Colquitt Road 30350 – A woman reported April 23 that on April 19 her boyfriend assaulted her by dragging her on the floor causing a cut on her arm. Both of their children were present. She said she didn’t report the assault sooner because she was scared.
Marseilles Drive 30342 – A man reported being assaulted April 23 at a party on Brandon Ridge Road. The victim had physical evidence of being beaten. He said a man named Travis hit him.
200 block of Hilderbrand Drive 30328 – An employee of Cafe 290 reported an assault. She said a co-worker stole a piece of pie. Later that night, the co-worker was waiting for her as she exited the bar. The co-worker pushed her down and hit her on the head with a liquor bottle.
6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man reported that he and his girlfriend went to a strip club April 26. She got mad at him for looking at another girl. They went home. He went to bed. The woman apparently got a female friend to come over. The man woke up to the female friend standing over him and slapping him. The female friend and the girlfriend then left.
Other things
Hampton Drive 30350 – A drunken man said a pit bull bit him on the arm while he was talking to a friend in the parking lot of his apartment. The man said he wanted to report the incident to the police in case he died.
Colquitt Road 30350 – A woman reported that she and her boyfriend bought furniture for their apartment. Later they split up. The man is texting her, wanting the furniture back. She said he belongs to a College Park gang.
7200 block of Roswell Road 30350 – A bar was cited for a violation of the noise ordinance after a nearby apartment resident complained to the police. The complaint came in after midnight.
Arrests
1000 block of Spalding Drive 30350 – Animal control officers investigating an animal-abuse case called police April 24. The animal control officers were trying to cite the owner, but the owner would not open the door. The police arrived and a citation was issued. The person was charged with disorderly conduct as well as the animal charges.
Ball Mill Road 30350 – Cops were called to a home April 26 in regards to a domestic argument and assault. They spoke with a woman who had been struck in the head by a man. The man said jail would be more pleasant than being with the woman. He was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail.
Treelodge Parkway 30350 – A man was arrested April 26 after punching another man in the mouth over a disagreement about his barbecue grill.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – An officer, monitoring traffic at school bus stops, pulled a car over April 26 after the driver ignored the red lights of the unloading bus. The driver had no driver’s license. He was arrested, and the car was impounded.
5800 block of Kingsport Drive 30342 – Around 5 a.m. April 23, a patrol officer spotted two men standing under a stairwell. He confirmed they did not live in the area. They were both drinking alcohol. One, a repeat offender, had been arrested in the past for having a concealed weapon, giving a false name and disorderly conduct. The second subject had been arrested for burglary and disorderly conduct. Both were arrested for a city ordinance violation (disorderly conduct).
Summit Place 30350 – Cops were called to a domestic-violence argument April 24 and arrested a woman who had assaulted her boyfriend over a fight regarding her ex-boyfriend.
6500 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man and his wife got a separation. He moved to another apartment in the same apartment complex. The wife was walking inside the complex April 24 with a man with whom she works. The ex saw them and taunted the couple. The ex then punched the co-worker. The cops were called. The officer located the ex walking in a different direction. Although mouthy, the ex was arrested without further incident.
Northridge Road 30350 – An officer pulled a car over April 25 after the tag info showed that the driver did not have insurance on the car. The driver was later found to be wanted in Clarke County (Athens) on felony fraud charges. He was arrested.
Cimarron Parkway 30350 – Officers met with a woman April 23 who said her ex-roommate and boyfriend was following her in his car without her consent. He told the officer he wanted his medical card back. He was given a citation for trespassing.
200 block of Sandy Springs Place 30328 – The fine folks at Kroger called the cops after a man filled his shopping cart and headed out to the parking lot without paying. When Kroger employees followed him, he ran. The responding officer caught up with the man. Once he was in cuffs, the officer asked why he didn’t pay for the food and why he ran. The man responded: “I don’t know.” He was arrested.
I think it is important to know why you are committing a crime. If you’re stealing food, why are you stealing it? Why are you running? This is an example of today’s criminals not having the commitment their predecessors had in times of old. I do give the man points for racking up more than $1,000 in items he intended to steal.
