Sandy Springs Fire Rescue has been named an “America’s Crown Community” winner for 2010.

The award stems from the department’s pledge to train people in CPR and other life-saving measures.

“When we first started the department, we pledged to train people in CPR and AED use … and that has paid off. We are well above the national average,” said John McDonough, city manager.
