Garden Hills Elementary School is gearing up for its biggest event of the year to support arts programs in the school.

The 22nd annual Evening in the Garden fundraiser will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. April 30 at The Gallery, 2795 Peachtree Road.

Money raised at the cocktail party will support cultural arts programming for the public school. Last year, the event raised $32,000.

“The budget has been cut heavily by Atlanta Public Schools, so (Garden Hills Elementary School) has been relying heavily on the PTA,” said Garden Hills parent Dora Burke. “They rely on the fundraising efforts of the PTA to accomplish those goals.”

Garden Hills Elementary recently began a three year partnership with the Woodruff Arts Center. The school has also had 17 years of residencies with Georgia Shakespeare.

“We have a variety of enrichment programs for our children around the arts. We have a partnership with Woodruff Arts, we have orchestra at the school and an art teacher that provides some extra-curricular after school art programs for the kids,” Burke said.

Tickets are $35. For more information, please contact Julie Lord at drjewelslord@gmail.com, or 404-831-1138 or visit www.eveninginthegarden.com
