Dunwoody police propose a new way of celebrating summer — a photo contest tracking the travels of “Dunwoody Dave.”

Starting June 8 and continuing through August 5, the department wants residents on summer vacation to take photos of Dave and send them home so they can be posted on the department’s website. In this case, Dave is a foam “stress ball” with “Dunwoody Police” written on its back.

“We’d love to give you one to bring along with you on your summer travels and take his photo showing the various adventures and places he may visit or perhaps a photo with your family or friends,” the department said in a release June 8. “All you have to do is send us the photo and you are entered in the contest!”

The department says it’s looking for creative photos in good taste. The grand prize winner will receive a Target gift card.

The department said residents may collect a Dave fr0m any Dunwoody Police officer or at the department’s front desk at 41 Perimeter Center East Suite 100, Dunwoody, GA 30346. One Dave per family.

Dave’s photos can be shared by email to dpdmedia@dunwoodyga.gov; by Twitter (include @dunwoodypolice in your tweet); or by Facebook post at www.facebook.comdunwoodypolice
