MARTA has raised the price of a one-way ride to $2.50 in order to close a $65 million budget gap.
The increase from $2 a ride is expected to raise $20 million more for the agency, Liveable Buckhead, a Buckhead-based nonprofit, said in its newsletter. The fare increase takes effect Oct. 2, the organization said.
In addition to the increase in the fare for a one-way trip, the MARTA board voted to increase the price of a weekly pass to $23.75 from $17 and the price of a monthly pass from $95 from $68, the nonprofit said.
