Sandy Springs City Manager John McDonough at Sandy Springs Rotary Club

Sandy Springs City Manager John McDonough told Sandy Springs Rotary Club members to expect delays as state and city officials work to widen the Roswell Road bridge over I-285.

They year-long project, meant to alleviate some of the congestion from traffic turning onto the Interstate, likely will cause serious delays. He said the work moving the utilities to allow for the bridge-widening is currently underway.

“It won’t be easy or painless,” he said.

He also said the city will soon seek bids on a $1.5 million to $2 million project to improve the road going into Morgan Falls Overlook Park.

Ronnie Young, Sandy Springs Parks and Recreation Director, said the current road is too narrow and said the project would include the addition of bike lanes.

McDonough also shared with club members the results of a survey of Sandy Springs residents. Residents generally reported being happy with their city government and services but gave the city negative marks on transportation, he said.
