The 3rd annual Walk N’ Wag benefit for the Ahimsa House was held at Lenox Park on Oct. 22, with proceeds going to the nonprofit organization’s efforts in providing shelter for pets of families dealing with domestic violence.

The Galloway School wrapped its Black History Month celebration by presenting its annual Harvest Awards to Elisabeth Omilami, CEO of Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless (HFTH), and Lexi Fields, a Galloway School upper learning teacher and 1998 alumna of the school. The Galloway Harvest Awards recognize individuals whose work sustains and inspires the human spirit by impacting a range of communities and affecting change locally and globally. HFTH was chosen for its continued support and work throughout the world by distributing more than $3 billion in food, clothing, medical supplies, educational materials, furniture and cleaning supplies. Fields was honored for her unwavering dedication to helping students find ways to impact their community and her leadership in several Galloway School service-learning programs including a Hunger Workshop and Service Fair & Marketplace. Both Omilami and Fields were selected for their ability to live Galloway Founder Elliott Galloway?s vision that citizens should embrace diversity, maintain common decency and promote human dignity.

On display is the newest addition to Dekalb County Fire Department Station 15 on Peachtree Dekalb Airport at Flightway Drive is a Rosenbauer Panther 4X4 Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Truck. The truck has been in service for five years. Dekalb County Firefighter Micheal Kostoff said, “This type of fire truck is rare, in that the firefighters stay inside the truck to fight the fire.” Kostoff gives Boy Scouts a chance to learn, and look up close at all the trucks features. Kostoff has been a firefighter with Dekalb for seven years, and three years at Peachtree Dekalb Airport Station 15, and is from Bulgaria originally.

The Marshals received information leading them to a Days Inn Hotel in the South Beach area of Miami. Thrasher was located and taken into custody in the hotel room without incident. Thrasher had approximately $30,000 cash in his possession. Thrasher is being held at the Metro West Detention Center in Miami awaiting extradition. Thrasher, indicted in 2012 on child molestation charges, had did not show up for an appointment with Sandy Springs police on May 19, police said.

All proceeds will go towards the cost of the schools’ production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” which will be performed at the school February 27th, and 28th 2015.
