7 a.m.-7 p.m. – The Pinch Hitter Program, organized by B’nai B’rith, provides volunteers to work in non-medical positions in area hospitals on Christmas Day to give employees the day off to spend with their families. Volunteers work in four-hour shifts at 14hospitals and assisted living facilities. Shifts generally run from 7-11 a.m., 11 a.m.-3 p.m., or 3-7 p.m. Facilities served include: Piedmont Hospital; Children’s Healthcare at Scottish Rite; The Jewish Home; St. Joseph’s Hospital; DeKalb Medical Center; Sunrise at Huntcliff; and Summer’s Landing.
