Atlanta elected officials shook hands and rubbed elbows at the Buckhead Coalition’s annual meeting on Jan. 25, held at 103 West. The guest of honor was U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., a personal friend of Buckhead Coalition President and former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell. Other attendees included several Atlanta City Council members, including Buckhead’s Howard Shook and Felicia Moore; Atlanta Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis and school board Chairman Reuben McDaniel as well as Buckhead school board member Nancy Meister; and a plethora of other elected leaders. Landrieu said she is working with Republicans and Democrats on an “entrepreneurship bill” to promote job growth.
Landrieu also took a moment to tell the audience about New Orleans recovery from Hurricane Katriana, the 2005 storm that wrecked the city a scattered thousands of its residents all over the U.S.
“Our city is rising from the ashes and the slop of the flood,” Landrieu said.
