Sandy Springs police said a man killed at an apartment complex Saturday night, April 14, died as the result of a botched drug deal.
CBS Atlanta reports the shooting happened at the Residences at Morgan Falls apartment complex at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. This morning, Sandy Springs police identified the victim as Patrick Placide, 28, of Atlanta. Placide died at the scene. His cousin, Jeanlouis Willy, 28, of Roswell, was wounded and treated and released at North Fulton Hospital.
“It appears that the pair were were involved in a drug deal in the parking lot when they were shot,” police Lt. Steve Rose said. “The identification of the suspects is still not known.”
The crime is likely to intensify the council’s discussions about how to deal with apartment crime. Sandy Springs police report 58 percent of the city’s violent crime in 2011 emanated from the city’s 71 apartment complexes.
