Dunwoody Police have charged five teenagers they believe are responsible for vandalizing the community garden at Brook Run Park.

In late March, the vandals sneaked into the park overnight and destroyed garden equipment, birdhouses and vegetables that were growing there – many of which were to be harvested and donated to a food bank.

The five juveniles, four from Dunwoody and one from Roswell, were arrested and released to the custody of their parents, police said. All five have been charged with criminal damage to property, a felony.  An anonymous tip led investigators to the arrest.

“I can’t stress enough about how important it is for teenagers to think about the consequences of their actions before they do something like this,” said Police Chief Billy Grogan in a news release. “Actions have consequences and as you get older the consequences become more severe. This is a great opportunity for parents to engage their teenager in a conversation about decision making that may help them make better decisions in the future.”
