Atlanta Police have confirmed an investigation into money allegedly stolen from the E. Rivers Parent Teacher Association.

Police have not identified a suspect and it is not yet clear how much money is missing. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that $54,000 of the money has been recovered. According to an Atlanta Police report, the person PTA members suspected of taking the money worked at Signature Bank and is described as a “part owner” of the bank.

A copy of a report released to the Buckhead Reporter shows PTA co-president Elise Lowry on March 7 contacted the Zone 2 precinct and told investigators that PTA officials discovered the missing funds during an audit. Lowry told police there were missing checks worth in excess of $20,000 that were supposed to be deposited into the PTA account.
