The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area offers free admission Saturday, June 9, in celebration of  “National Get Outdoors Day,” the U.S. Park Service announced. Parks across the county are waive admission fees for the day.

The Chattahoochee recreation area is holding the annual Back to the Chattahoochee River race on June 9. The park co-hosts the annual race with the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.

“It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the park while supporting a partner organization dedicated to preserving the river,” park Superintendent Patty Wissinger said in a press release.

The Chattahoochee recreation area says it plans to waive its $3 entrance fee on four more days in 2012 – Sept. 29 (National Public Lands Day) and Nov.10- 12 (Veterans Day weekend
